Producer On-Farm Technology Planning - Moorabool Landcare Catchment Group
The project aimed to support local producers in the Moorabool region to explore digital technology tailored to their farm's needs. The project involved workshops, hands-on training, and fostering connections to build a network for sharing ideas and knowledge. The project aimed to include participation from at least 20 producers, completion of a Farm Technology Business Plan by all participants and assessing the impact on technology uptake through an online survey.
The project successfully delivered four workshops, including a farm visit, and implemented a soil carbon testing program across seven properties. Initially, the focus was broad, but it shifted to 'on-farm carbon,’ which led to increased engagement and enthusiasm among producers. This also allowed for the engagement of industry leaders within the ‘on-farm carbon’ space which provided further contribution to the project’s success.
The project evolved into a comprehensive exploration of 'on-farm carbon,' covering areas such as carbon emissions measurement, operational data capture, carbon sequestration measurement, soil carbon levels, and the viability of Soil Carbon Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs). The engagement and commitment of producers, along with the partnership of industry leaders significantly enhanced the project's success, leading to positive contributions to the local farming community within the Moorabool catchment.
