Practical Technology Uptake on the Monaro- Hosting a Regional Agricultural Technology Symposium

The project aimed to facilitate the identification of specific technological needs of farmers and graziers in the Monaro region. The project team achieved through the successful facilitation of a Regional Agricultural Technology Symposium that engaged both the local farmers and Agtech industry representatives. Over the full day it featured practical demonstrations and technical presentations on emerging technologies relevant to the region. These included electronic livestock data collection systems, remote sensing of pasture growth, targeted weed eradication using robotics, whole farm connectivity options, and precision agriculture technologies.

Overall, the symposium successfully attracted over 200 attendees, with 178 recorded on the sign-in sheets. It showcased over 30 exhibitors and received positive feedback, leading to sales and further learning opportunities for producers. Attendees highlighted key priorities such as remote sensing technology, drone technology, farm connectivity, and electric off-road bikes. The project provided valuable insights into the technological needs of the Monaro region's farmers and identified areas for future initiatives, including farming software, labour efficiency, robotics, animal health management, and soil health.
