Next generation probiotics to enhance the gut health of chickens

Probiotics can be used to support the health and productivity of chicken meat birds but currently have a variable reputation. This investment aims to identify and develop probiotic strains of bacteria that are able to reliably colonise and persist within the variable environment of the gut microbiota of chickens. The project will utilise new advances in vivo screening to identify bacterial isolates with potential probiotic activity.
