National fisheries and aquaculture industry social and economic contributions study: Phase 1

This project aims to provide evidence of the contribution of Australian fisheries and aquaculture industries to national, state and regional economies and communities. It will enable these industries to demonstrate their contributions to the economic and social dimensions of sustainability. To generate the information needed to achieve this, the project will: - estimate the contribution to the Australian national economy of all commercial fisheries and aquaculture activity using standard measures of economic contribution; - estimate the contribution to each State/Territory's economy of commercial fisheries and aquaculture activity in the same way; and - develop a robust and nationally-consistent framework to support data collection and estimation of contributions.
