Molecular markers for cultivar ID and seed certification in pasture legumes

This project investigated the use of elite molecular markers for accurate cultivar identification at the seed stage in five important forage and pasture legume species grown in Australia. These markers will be of extreme practical use in future commercial cultivar ID, seed purity tests, GMO testing and Marker Assisted Breeding (MAB) programs in these species. A unique opportunity exists to exploit molecular markers of subterranean clover and their transferability to other pasture and forage relatives.
