Modern Systems Agronomy for Resilient Cotton Production
A key challenge for the cotton industry is to minimise climate-induced year to year production variability and maintain existing lint quality. In addition, an industry-led strategic imperative targets a significant increase in productivity and profitability within 5 years. This project aims to address these strategic needs by increasing research capacity and capabilities for applied cotton systems research.
The project will develop responsive agronomic practices for irrigated, rain-fed and abiotically stressed crops through research that leverages plant growth regulator chemistry, the application of modern sensing technologies and data analytics. This project will maintain employment of an applied scientist specialising in systems research linked to agronomy and plant / crop physiology. This will ensure development of responsive agronomic practices for irrigated, rain-fed and abiotically stressed crops.
