MeatTech Futures: Professional Processing Careers

The project proposed seeks to act as a starting point for discussion to begin addressing this ever-growing gap to address the labour needs of processors with a particular focus to achieving the outcomes of: - Highlighting the skill diversity and technological sophistication of career opportunities for youth in the red meat processing industry. - Attract more technology-skilled people into the red meat processing industry to advance and support technological innovation in the red meat processing industry. - Change the perception of the level of sophistication and growth opportunities for youth in the red meat processing industry. AMPC’s mission and purpose statements highlight the importance of “innovation” and “profitability” to the red meat processing industry: both of which depend upon attracting the workforce that can develop, and provide the technical capabilities to maintain, the technological innovations that drive the processing efficiencies to enable such outcomes. This is exemplified by the keynote presented in May at 2023’s PEIFA conference that was met by a significant agreement from agricultural teachers across Australia (see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cr5CvS0Q9Q&list=PPSV). Through a project that enables the collaboration between universities, technology providers and AgTech education specialists these outcomes can be achieved to provide a means of building awareness of opportunities to attract those who are capable of providing the expertise in technology to be of great benefit for the red meat processing industry in the future.
