Measuring and reporting the value of capacity building on farms and in research

Capacity building of on-farm workforce skill development, participation in leadership programs and future researcher needs are all important aspects of ensuring that the right RD&E is undertaken by qualified researchers and delivered in a format that maximises adoption by a skilled, on-farm workforce. It is, however, difficult to determine the impact of these capacity building investments on-farm, in research institutions and across the cotton industry. This investment will assist growers to assess the value (benefits/impacts financial/social) of investing in specific capacity of on-farm staff as well as establishing an appropriate monitoring evaluation and review framework to assess and adjust cotton industry investment in capacity building.
