LalDas: A First Prototype Machine for Deboning Lamb Legs

Deboning lamb hindquarter legs has been attempted under AMPC Project 2025-1038 using an established machine for turkey legs (TakiDas). The results encourage an enthusiastic development for a machine that may be built and tested in an Australian Lamb processing plant. The testing of the machine delivering as automated prototype machine may be benchmarked against current butchery, providing for efficiency, yield, consistency and dependability evaluations. Mayekawa Japan have successfully achieve deboning automation of similar machines for poultry and pork processing: Takidas for Turkey Legs, comparable in dimensions to lamb legs and HamDas, for pork legs. This project aims to achieve LalDas as a first cost effective and practical automation solution based on existing designs, for prototype testing with lamb legs within a plant, quantifying performance and benefits.
