Investigating causes of Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI)

Using an innovative next generation sequencing approach, this project will define and diagnose important upper respiratory diseases of laying hens, providing key information for improving prevention and monitoring of URTIs in the egg industry. The tools generated through this project can be used as on-farm welfare indicators. Therefore, this project will result in an optimised welfare of free range, barn and aviary hens.
