Projects
Innovation Uptake Program
The project aimed to foster innovation, create connections, share knowledge, and showcase businesses and individuals operating ahead of the curve. The project successfully achieved its objectives through a series of events.
The project began with the Riverine Plains Farm Tour, where over 65 farmers participated in demonstrations on innovative weed management, perennial crop trials, and on-farm connectivity solutions. The tour included visits to Uncle Toby’s Wahgunyah Farm and Squires Winery, providing hands-on experiences and networking opportunities.
The Riverine Plains Innovation Field Day and Towards 2030 Forum attracted over 400 delegates and 90 leading innovative tech providers. The event introduced farmers to new solutions for managing farming system issues and included demonstrations of various technologies. The day also featured the Towards 2030 Forum tent, where participants could interact directly with exhibitors.
The final event, the Seed Force Innovation Conference, featured trade stalls, networking opportunities, and presentations by forward-thinking speakers. Topics included leveraging farm assets, optimizing profits through on-farm tech, and understanding externalities to better manage farm enterprises.
Overall, the project achieved significant engagement, whilst also identifying barriers to technology adoption, such as the time and effort required to implement new innovations and the cost compared to the return on investment.
