In-ovo egg gender determination

The aim of the In-ovo chicken egg gender determination project is to investigate the optical methodology to differentiate gender of chickens in-ovo, non-invasively, based on their intrinsic fluorescence to differentiate sexes. The main objectives of the project are to: Conduct a pilot study to validate and optimize optical techniques for egg gender determination in-ovo, non-invasively for fast identification with no post processing required; and to investigate and compare the optical properties of classes of fertilised eggs at different stages (day zero onwards) and determine if gender detection is possible at an early stage of development.
