Improving water use efficiency in a changing climate

Research indicates that while higher CO2 improves some aspects of cotton growth, there could be negative impacts, such as rank growth and an increase in total water required. Focusing on the effects on cotton grown in higher temperatures and higher CO2, this project will assess the use of plant growth regulators to balance vegetative and reproductive growth; explore canopy-level carbon and water fluxes; and assess the capacity for current models to optimise yield and resource-use efficiency.
