Giant Pine Scale Postgraduate Research Scholarship Agreement
Giant Pine Scale (Marchalina hellenica) is a scale insect that sucks the sap of pine trees. If established, the insect poses a threat to Australia’s softwood plantation industry, by causing branch dieback, desiccation and eventual tree death. This post graduate research scholarship will focus on gathering data on the biology and ecology of M. hellenica to assist in ongoing management and provide greater of its impact on the Australian softwood plantation industry.
