Genotyping of Breech Flystrike

Resistance to breech flystrike is a priority area of research for the Australian wool industry as genetic progress in sheep breeding programs could be fast-tracked with the application of genomic breeding values. This project investigated whether genomic approaches based on major genes, such as marker assisted selection, genomic selection based on genomic breeding values or a combination of the two would be the most efficient application of genomic information for selection for breech flystrike resistance.
