Future options for the control of the RLEM earth mite in Australian Pasture Seed

The redlegged earth mite (RLEM) is one of the most destructive pests in broadacre crops and pastures in southern Australia. Control of the RLEM is complicated by increasing resistance issues to key chemicals in Australian RLEM populations. To help growers better manage RLEM in the future and increase confidence in seasonal RLEM risks, this project will continue surveillance of RLEM across Australia using improved resistance monitoring tools, and investigate new chemical and biological control options. This project is working in conjunction with the Grains Research & Development Corporation (GRDC) to update management recommendations, improve the best practice management advice and resistance management strategies for RLEM.
