Feasibility study of managed aquifer recharge for improved water productivity for Australian cotton production
As water supply conditions change, irrigators must find innovative ways to remain viable. One possibility, managed aquifer recharge (MAR), uses surface water, when in surplus, to artificially recharge groundwater aquifers to be available for irrigation in seasonal or annual dry periods. This project identifies the potential to implement MAR regionally, and evaluates its feasibility, and social and legislative support requirements.
