Expanding the sowing window for canola and lupins - what works in WA?

Canola and lupins are the two major break crops grown in Western Australia, comprising 1.5 million hectares. However, growers need more confidence in opportunities to capture March and early April seeding opportunities. This includes developing better methods for managing early sown crops, which could transform how canola and lupins are utilised within the farming system. This investment aims to provide better information to growers on early-sowing based on opportunities to: 1. increase yield of canola and lupin crops through early sowing 2. increase the area of canola and lupin crops sown due to greater profitability and 3. identify commercially released canola and lupin varieties likely to be better adapted to very early sowing
