Enhancing Food Production Workforce Pilot

The red meat processing industry faces ongoing worker shortages, while neurodivergent individuals often encounter employment barriers. These potential employees are already imbedded in the local community and are seeking to engage in meaningful employment. This pioneering initiative will support the proposed pilot by providing a platform where neurodivergent people can explore the opportunities available in red meat processing. This project aims to test the current boundaries of attracting and retaining a neurodivergent workforce by creating a world first job-matching platform and associated specialist resources for both individuals and industry. The initiative takes a two-phase approach: first conducting thorough planning and scoping to establish content frameworks and technical specifications, followed by full production and implementation. This structured methodology ensures all materials are developed with appropriate sensory considerations and authentic representation through collaboration with autism specialists and industry partners. This project will support the work undertaken in project 2025-1047 (A) and continue to build on the foundation of the Careers Portal. The aspiration for this project is to develop a sustainable and diverse workforce solution to industry.
