Dynamic Breathability thresholds

Building on OF-00690, which validated a stop–go dynamic hot plate protocol to quantify wool fabrics’ thermal performance during intermittent activity and defined realistic sweating/drying cycles, this project advances the method toward market adoption. It will incorporate the ASTM-aligned test into Woolmark’s licensing program and use benchtop trials to expand the scope to key fibre blends. Results will be used to finalise the Woolmark certification methodology and set clear certification thresholds for “dynamic breathability.” The project will also determine how strongly wool’s dynamic breathability advantage is retained when blended with other fibres.
