Digital reporting of animal welfare incidents at processing establishments

Animal welfare outcomes on plants continue to cause concern for industry stakeholders and potentially threaten the social licence of processors to operate. One area that may assist in addressing these concerns is support for processors to comply with good animal welfare outcomes. This project will create a set of guidance materials to assist in the reporting of animal welfare incidents at meat processing sites. It will include videos to represent the key provisions in the Australian Animal Welfare Certification System (AAWCS) and digital guidance material. As well as supporting processors to understand and demonstrate good animal welfare outcomes, these tools will support the completion of a new online digital reporting form for the reporting of animal welfare incidents, which will also be developed as part of this project. The project is expected to deliver significant benefits to processors, particularly those that are unsure about how to comply with AAWCS requirements.
