Development of National Environmental Guidelines for the Meat Chicken Industry

For the Australian chicken meat industry new farm approvals can be costly and the requirements for these approvals can vary between locations. In addition, specific issues such as odour impact assessment were seen as problematic. Following consultation with regulators, consultants and industry members, it was highlighted that a national guideline could substantially help to streamline this process.
 
The purpose of this project is to produce guidelines for assessors and applicatants so that compliance burdens can be reduced (e.g. lower costs, faster development approval process, reduced incidence of court cases) and provide better planning and environmental outcomes for industry and the community into the future.
