Feed quality from pastures and of forages is directly related to animal productivity. Higher quality forage lines will contribute to more efficient livestock. Annual forages will provide feedbase options in more variable seasons and drier climates. Specifically increasing the oil content of forages will potentially benefit livestock production systems through higher feed intake, liveweight gain, feed efficiency, and reductions in methane emissions.
