Dairy Up project 10: Non replacement dairy calves pathways

This project builds on an earlier pilot project (Non-Replacement Calf Pathways Pilot Project) that considered community attitudes, local barriers and opportunities for reducing early life calf slaughter. This project will develop dairy beef and veal pathways that are socially and economically sustainable; and support the development of regional projects (eg supply chains) that provide alternatives to bobby calf processing and at-birth euthanasia. This will create a sustainable path to market for the non-replacement dairy calf market.
