Coxiella burnetii infection in association with equine abortion

Coxiella burnetii causes 'Q fever' in humans and can cause abortions in some other species including horses. This project uses molecular techniques to understand the biology of C. burnetii in equine abortion, the potential risks to human and horse health and possible transmission pathways. The findings will inform the development of appropriate control measures to mitigate human and horse health risks from C. burnetii infection.
