CottonInfo irrigation technical lead
Irrigation Decision Making can be complex see Ap1 and involves both agronomic and operational aspects trading off cost, efficiencies and yield outcomes. As CottonInfo Irrigation technical lead the proposal would be to conduct a team .To ensure the extension team understands the influences of irrigation decision making.Consider the regional influences on irrigation decision making.Discuss the potential barriers to adoption of new technologies and innovations and To develop key messages on irrigation efficiency to incorporate into extension activities and material. The workshop outputs will inform the regional activities aimed at enhancing the adoption of irrigation best management practice and adoption of technology. The workshop outputs will be complemented by findings from two SIP2 projects;1.the review of the role that service providers play in adoption of irrigation technology.2.IPactive analysis of the Integration value proposition and review of the challenges and barriers to integration. An outcome from the workshops would be to develop the irrigation field and demonstration plans for each of the regions as a component of the annual operation plan. This would detail what field activities are required to support existing research, to extend research findings to a broader audience and to demonstrate the benefits of new irrigation technology or practice management. Consideration of the barriers to adoption and the stage along the adoption curve that the bulk of the growers in each region will be considered by individual REO’s in the development of regional plans.Review the electronic and print material associated with irrigation and water management:Annually review the Irrigation chapters, (5 and 16) in the Cotton Production Manual to ensure that they are relevant, up to date with the latest research findings and practical at a farm level.
