Cotton Landcare Tech Innovations: Threatened species in cotton growing areas and guidelines for their management, and development of a MERI framework

This project is part of the National Landcare Program’s Smart Farming Partnerships initiative. It aims to build on international best practice to implement and develop cutting-edge technologies to help Australian cotton better report on and improve on-farm biodiversity. This sub-project has two key outputs. The first output is the development of a prioritisation framework for the management of threatened and iconic species within cotton landscapes. This identifies key management practices by Local Government area for the threatened and iconic species occurring in cotton landscapes. The second output is the development of a Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Improvement (MERI) Plan, outlining the process for measuring, assessing and reporting the impact, effectiveness and legacy of the program to the Australian Government. This plan is an overarching document that identifies expected biophysical and social changes, how these changes will be monitored, and provides guidance as to how and when to evaluate the program.
