Connecting the unconnected for on-farm technology adoption

The project aimed to enhance connectivity on farms, thereby facilitating the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies. Because of this, the project focused on addressing connectivity gaps in grain production areas by implementing Zetifi's Wi-Fi solutions. Three grain producers were chosen to implement Zetifi's technology, with the selected farms utilizing Zetifi's distributed network of Wi-Fi small cells, which extended the farm's existing Wi-Fi network to cover larger areas, including vehicles and machinery.

Key achievements of the project included the successful installation of Zetifi's ZetiRover, a roaming Wi-Fi hotspot for vehicles and farm machinery. This technology provided reliable connectivity for voice, video, and data, significantly improving the ability of farmers to conduct business and manage operations in real-time, even in remote areas. The ZetiRover enabled farmers to utilize modern tools and technology more effectively, enhancing productivity and safety on farms.

The project also highlighted the importance of reliable and affordable connectivity for grain producers, emphasizing that connectivity is critical for leveraging precision agriculture equipment and ensuring efficient farm management. The project faced challenges such as workforce shortages and the need for qualified installers, but these were overcome to achieve the project's objectives.

Overall, the project successfully addressed connectivity issues, enabling farmers to adopt more technology on-farm and improving their ability to manage operations efficiently. The initiative set a foundation for future projects and highlighted the potential of advanced connectivity solutions to transform agricultural practices.
