Common approach to Greenhouse Gas Accounting; Platform - Build 1 (AIA Environmental Accounting Platform)

AIA was actively engaged in discussions with a private sector consortium to validate its approach and solution design for the Common Approach to Greenhouse Gas Accounting Platform, Build 1 (AIA Environmental Accounting Platform). Efficiencies were identified in consolidating carbon research from 13 RDCs, involving over 120 interviews across various commodities and sectors. Growers expressed concerns about their readiness to address increasing pressures on demonstrating carbon footprints, trusting AIA as a not-for-profit custodian of this solution. Australia was recognised as strategically positioned to streamline efforts and avoid the fragmentation seen in other countries. Insights underscored growers' needs for unified reporting and decision-making tools amid impending regulatory and supply chain demands. A Discovery Insights Report, including specific findings for fishing and aquaculture, was submitted to FRDC in May 2023, supporting ongoing development and maintenance of the platform infrastructure and integration with industry software providers.
