Commencing implementation of a genetic eval. system for livestock working dogs

"This aim of this project is to drive the development of a comprehensive genetic evaluation system for livestock working dogs. It will evaluate earlier work into valuable behavioural phenotypes in Australian livestock working dogs with the objective of embedding best practice for: (i) ongoing collection of on farm statistics of working dog ownership and management; (ii) assessment of phenotypic traits; (iii) collection and processing of biological samples for genotyping; and (iv) improvement of the accuracy of genetic and genomic estimates.

The combined results of this and a previous related project will be communicated to stakeholders through the mainstream media as well as consultation with a small group of stakeholders to clarify and define any continuing needs."
