Cell Disrupter Technology – Increasing Revenue from Lower Value Portions - JBS
Increasing the value of meat processing products could lead to increasing returns for processors.
Increasing the revenue and utilisation of lower value streams remains a focus for both MLA and AMPC R&D investments – this initiative will be under the agreed MLA-AMPC umbrella management agreement (UMA) (MLA led) following MLA’s initial introduction of Greencell to JBS and recent work in micronisation.
JBS has agreed to partner in this project to evaluate Greencell technology – a high pressure extraction process. A pilot unit in South Africa will be used to model opportunities for Australian processors to increase the value of offal and other products that are condemned and to increase the value of skins and hides that are currently worth very little. A business case that considers yields, energy use, derived product quality and possible uses for the treated raw material products will be considered by JBS and the case study presented to wider industry.
A successful project outcome is likely to be of interest to processors as they aim to increase their returns.
