Biological parameters for stock assessments in South Eastern Australia - an information and capacity uplift

The project aims to improve stock assessments in South Eastern Australia by updating and understanding the underpinning biological parameters used in fisheries management. The region is experiencing ocean warming, leading to potential changes in fish productivity. Currently, the assessments rely on outdated information, resulting in uncertainty and impacting management decisions. By updating the parameters and incorporating sensitivity analysis, the project will reduce uncertainties and evaluate the sustainability of current measures. The project will utilize biological samples collected during RV Investigator voyages to update parameters, assess stock structure, and analyze food webs. Additionally, the project will enhance fisheries capability and develop more efficient methods for parameter estimation and stock assessments.
