Biodegradation of textiles in marine & terrestrial environments.

This project assessed the marine and terrestrial biodegradation of major apparel fibre types, including shrink resist treated and untreated wool apparel fabrics. The study addressed an important knowledge gap about the biodegradability of wool finishing processes, enabling AWI to respond with scientifically defensible evidence to challenges that wool clothing contributes to the microplastic pollution problem.
