Animal Husbandry AI Objective Measurement Validation in Australian Abattoirs

The project is a pilot of technology to track and understand the behavior of animals in lairage and assess the suitability, feasibility, and effectiveness of using AI technology to identify near real time animal welfare outcomes. The project will identify the immediate benefits for the commercial entities and create a roadmap for alignment with other research projects and priorities. It is the first-time objective measures have been available for use in Australian abattoirs for near real time commercial feedback (ie beyond research studies) and its potential to measure outcomes of training, new technology, and protect the industry from social attacks is significant.
