Alternate energy solutions for aquaculture: A Seafood Industry Australia + Blue Economy CRC Collaboration
The collaboration between Seafood Industry Australia and Blue Economy CRC aims to establish a comprehensive platform for decarbonising the aquaculture industry and enhancing its climate resilience. This initiative builds on existing efforts and provides a centralised approach to assess both established and emerging alternate energy solutions. Key activities include developing an operational framework for aquaculture emissions, conducting technical readiness assessments with micro-project partners, implementing early mover pilot projects, and creating a Decarbonisation e-decision map. Additionally, the project aims to influence governance and policy through informed reports and engage stakeholders through outreach and communication strategies. Partnering with industry leaders and innovators, the project seeks to validate scalable solutions, foster partnerships, and advance climate resilience goals aligned with industry commitments. This initiative underscores a strategic pathway for the aquaculture sector to navigate climate challenges and accelerate sustainable practices.
