A synthesis of research conducted into the impacts of surface water abstraction on tropical aquatic species

The project aims to conduct a synthesis of research on the impacts of surface water abstraction on tropical aquatic species in northern Australia. By reviewing and synthesizing both published and grey literature, the project will provide a comprehensive understanding of the effects of water abstraction on these species. This synthesis will identify key risks associated with water abstraction and prioritize the species that are most vulnerable to its impacts. Additionally, the project will identify critical knowledge gaps and future research needs in order to guide targeted research efforts. By sharing the outcomes with project stakeholders and providing research advice, the project will increase stakeholder understanding of the impacts of water abstraction on tropical aquatic species and contribute to informed decision-making and management strategies for water resource development in northern Australia.
