Teora Pte Ltd
Teora is a Singapore based, biotech company developing disease management solutions for aquaculture and agriculture.
Aquaculture is a key food source of healthy and least wasteful protein, that is set to feed a third of the world population. Yet, viral and bacterial diseases in aquaculture can cause over 70% losses in production.
Currently these problems, especially viral diseases in tropical species of prawn and fish remain unresolved. Teora has developed orally delivered disease management solutions for viral diseases in both prawns and fish. Unlike injection based vaccines which are only applied to small fish and not available for prawns, Teora's solutions are delivered orally and can be applied throughout the lifecycle of the animals. These solutions, reduce losses, reduce use of harmful chemicals, reduce carbon emissions and increase efficiency in food production. These solutions are designed using Teora's SOLAQ platform which integrates nobel prize winning cutting edge technologies from human pharmaceuticals, bringing next gen solutions to aquaculture. Beyond the laboratory, these solutions have been successfully demonstrated in farms in Asia, with repeat customer orders.
In addition, Teora has won an the Liveability Challenge ('23) from Temasek to develop solutions for Scale Drop Disease Virus (SDDV) which is a key problem in barramundi farming in Singapore.
Their solutions are working with 89% efficacy. The SOLAQ platform can go beyond aquaculture and solve problems for disease problems in plants and animals, thereby reducing use of harmful chemicals including pesticides, antibiotics, etc.
Using this, Teora strives to bring clean, healthy and sustainable food for the global population.
