Tanafloc Australia
Tanafloc Australia focuses on enabling sustainable, metal free solutions for industrial water and wastewater treatment across agrifood processing, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors. Its products are biodegradable, carbon negative, and designed to reduce sludge volumes, residual metals, and embodied emissions associated with conventional metal based coagulants.
While tannin-based coagulants have been used around the world since the early 2000s, Australia — despite being home to native black acacia trees, a rich source of tannins — had never cultivated or extracted this valuable resource for water treatment applications.
With over 30 years of experience in the water industry, our director recognised a growing need for ecological alternatives to conventional treatment chemicals. Yet, no such solution was available in Australia. That’s why we launched Tanafloc Australia: to offer Australian industries an effective, natural option already proven in more than 70 countries worldwide.
To this day, Tanfloc remains the only tannin-based coagulant commercially available in Australia.
Within the agrifood innovation ecosystem, Tanafloc Australia plays a key role in linking water treatment performance with circular economy outcomes, including wastewater reuse, plantation forestry, biomass valorisation, and carbon value creation. The organisation is actively supporting pathways toward licensed local manufacturing and integrated Australian supply chains.

Tanafloc Australia: Industrial Water Reuse and Carbon Value
Seeking partners
Opportunity description
Industry challengeAustralia’s agrifood sector relies heavily on imported, metal based coagulants for industrial water and wastewater treatment. While effective, these chemicals generate high sludge volumes, increase disposal costs, introduce residual metals into downstream environments, and carry significant...
