Startupbootcamp is a global network of industry-focused accelerator programs designed to empower early-stage startups across various sectors. One of its notable initiatives is the FoodTech Tasmania accelerator program, which focuses on innovative solutions in the food, aquaculture, and agricultural technology sectors.

The FoodTech Tasmania program, based in Launceston, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, selects promising startups from around the world to participate in an intensive 3-month accelerator. The program aims to support entrepreneurs in developing sustainable and innovative solutions to address real industry challenges and opportunities in the food sector.

Key features of the FoodTech Tasmania accelerator include: Mentorship: Participants receive hands-on guidance from over 100 industry experts. Funding: Seed funding is provided to help startups accelerate their growth. Networking: Startups gain access to a global network of investors, corporate partners, and industry leaders. Tailored support: The program is customized to meet the specific needs of each startup, focusing on making them pitch ready, commercially ready, and investment ready.

The program aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and emphasizes circular economy principles, value addition to Australia's produce, and innovative technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability in food processing, labor, and supply chain systems.

Startupbootcamp's FoodTech Tasmania accelerator has a track record of success, with 73% of startups in their global portfolio remaining active and 79% receiving funding. The program has helped accelerate over 1,700 startups globally, with an average funding raised of $2.8 million per startup.

The next FoodTech Tasmania cohort is scheduled to begin on August 26, 2024, following a rigorous selection process23. This program continues to attract innovative startups from around the world, contributing to Tasmania's growing reputation as a hub for food and agritech innovation.
