Livestock Improvement Corporation

LIC is a New Zealand-based dairy farmer owned co-operative specialising in herd improvement and farming solutions. It is one of the largest integrated herd improvement organisations in the world, providing a diverse range of products and services to the dairy and beef industries both in New Zealand and overseas. More recently LIC has been using advanced genomic technology for breeding and genetic testing of livestock to enhance the profitability of New Zealand dairy farms.

LIC has over 700 permanent staff and approximately 2,000 part-time or seasonal staff. The main products and services offered by LIC include:

• bovine genetics and insemination services;
• herd recording and farm management software;
• herd testing and animal health diagnostics; and
• bovine genotyping.
