IsoFoodtrace is revolutionising food authentication through cutting-edge stable isotope technology, providing a swift and cost-effective third-party testing solution that guarantees the integrity of purchased products. Our innovative biochemical fingerprinting process harnesses stable isotope analysis to unveil the natural weight fluctuations in atoms within biological materials, essentially creating a distinctive fingerprint for each item.

By leveraging machine learning algorithms, IsoFoodtrace can decipher these unique fingerprints to validate various food attributes, including origin, wild-caught status, organic certification, grass-fed distinctions, and free-range labeling. Our approach circumvents the need for extensive supply chain audits by directly examining minute physical samples of the final product.

At the heart of our methodology lies the analysis of stable isotopic ratios in food components like carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur. These elements exist in different isotopic forms, with varying weights that reflect geographical origins and nutrient pathways. For instance, the presence of 'heavy nitrogen' in organic vegetables traces back to the enriched nitrogen content in organic fertilizers compared to their synthetic counterparts.

IsoFoodtrace's process involves the extraction of a small food sample, which is meticulously purified, ground into a consistent powder, and then converted into gases using an Elemental Analyser. These gases are funneled into an Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer, where they are measured and categorized by weight to determine the isotopic ratios. Subsequently, the identified isotopic values are cross-referenced with a comprehensive database to validate or debunk specified product claims.
