Hy-Boost Technology Pty Ltd
Hy-Boost Technology has developed a hydrogen co-fire system that can be easily retrofitted to existing diesel combustion engines. The system safely generates hydrogen on demand to assist in a more complete combustion of fuel; increasing power, reducing harmful emissions & improving fuel efficiency. Hy-Boost produces significant emissions reductions & fuel savings of up to 35% (average 24% approx.). Systems are sized to suit the engine to deliver the optimal amount of hydrogen based on the fuel consumption.
Importantly, Hy-Boost Technology has consolidated the development as part of the patent application for the co-firing system. Our technology takes a power feed from the engine alternator to electrolyse water within the Hy-Boost system. The gas produced is then fed into the air intake and subsequently delivered into the combustion chamber. The increased concentration of hydrogen and oxygen within the air creates a more complete combustion of the diesel. Typically, this unburnt diesel is expelled through the exhaust as unburnt hydrocarbons (CxHy). This more complete burn of the fuel allows for greater power, fuel efficiency (as a greater percentage of the fuel is being consumed) and significantly reduced emissions.
The only consumable required for the system is distilled water. The water is stored in a separate water tank that is sized to meet the maintenance schedule of the engine. For example, large freight trucks typically have a 250-hour service regime, this will typically require 40L of water (approximately). Based on this, we supply and install a 60L water tank to provide suitable redundancy. In the event that the system runs out of water, it turns off automatically and the engine continues to operate on diesel alone. Once the water tank has been refilled, the system starts again, thereby continuing to deliver fuel savings and emissions reductions.
