Fremantle Seaweed
Fremantle Seaweed are a team of seafarers and scientists passionate about ocean conservation and tackling climate change. Harnessing Western Australia’s pristine waters, we are growing the red seaweed, Asparagopsis, that has been demonstrated by CSIRO to reduce climate change causing methane emissions from cattle and other ruminant livestock by 80%.
By aiming to grow Asparagopsis seaweed at scale on marine farms, Fremantle Seaweed are capitalising on the emerging opportunity of seaweed aquaculture in Australia and supporting cattle farmers to reduce emissions, whilst also having the potential to support additional environmental benefits (including promoting marine biodiversity) when compared to other cultivation methods.
