Sea-Nergy: Unlocking Scalable Carbon-Negative Hydrogen from Biomass & Seaweed – partner and investor opportunity

Opportunity For

  • Commercial partners, angel investors, and corporate investors interested in sustainable energy and agri-tech
  • Joint venture partners working in agriculture, aquaculture, and food production looking for carbon-negative solutions
  • Indigenous and regional community groups seeking collaboration on circular economy and clean energy projects

Opportunity description

Industry Challenge:

Australia faces the dual challenge of decarbonising energy production and reducing agricultural emissions, particularly methane from livestock. Traditional green hydrogen production is costly and resource-intensive, limiting its adoption.

Sea-Nergy is addressing through it’s patented, cost-effective process to produce green hydrogen from renewable biomass (seaweed and cane) and seawater, using natural microbial and catalytic reactions.

This approach not only generates clean hydrogen but also produces desalinated water and nutrient-rich seaweed for food and livestock feed to mitigate methane, supporting carbon-negative outcomes and circular economies.

The solution is scalable, off-grid, and designed for deployment in remote and regional communities, with the potential to transform energy, agriculture, and environmental management.

Current Opportunity

Sea-Nergy is seeking investment and strategic partnerships to build and scale its prototype hydrogen production units, with a focus on collaboration with First Nations and regional communities.

The initial funding requirement is $250,000 for a working prototype, with a $3 million target for a demonstration mini-plant. Partners will benefit from access to exclusive IP (patents granted in Australia, South Korea, and Japan), potential for joint ventures, and eligibility for matched grant funding.

Engagement may include co-development/join venture, or commercialisation support. ROI includes early access to disruptive clean energy technology, carbon credits, and new revenue streams from hydrogen, desalinated water, and sustainable feedstocks.

Opportunity Background:

Sea-Nergy’s technology has undergone peer review in government-certified labs and is supported by a decade of research.

The company has engaged with universities, engineering firms, and potential investors, and holds offers for land and seawater access for pilot projects.

Sea-Nergy is committed to transparent, impact-driven partnerships, especially those that empower Indigenous and regional communities.

Potential Other Applications:

Beyond hydrogen and energy, Sea-Nergy’s process offers solutions for sustainable aquaculture, livestock methane reduction, and food production.

The seaweed byproduct can be used as a high-value feed supplement to lower methane emissions in cattle, and as a functional food for human health. The technology can also support water security through desalination.

Modular, containerised units enable rapid deployment for remote mining, transport, and emergency services, supporting Australia’s transition to net zero.
