Opportunity description
Industry challenge
Productivity is declining in the worlds oceans and this creates a problem for both fisheries and inshore aquaculture operations that rely on a healthy and productive ocean to enhance growth rates. ONC is testing biopod enclosures that grow phytoplankton in a protected space and allow for their release to feed filter feeders such as clams and mussels and also to regenerate ocean ecology.
We are working in both ocean regeneration and in scalable ocean carbon removal. Both processes are critical for creating a stable climate for future generations and maintaining healthy functioning ecosystems that provide high quality protein to feed the world. Our initial challenge is to create biopods that allow for growing ocean plants in controlled environments, are stable in the ocean and can capture and measure the carbon generated or release live plants to support ocean regeneration. Our ideal partners will be ambitious to make a difference, working in carbon, fisheries, shipping or offshore industries.
Current opportunity
Current opportunity ONC is raising up to $2 million dollars in growth capital in exchange for equity in the company. These funds would be used to:
- employ key personnel,
- to execute our early revenue model via biopods deployed in the aquaculture industry; and
- to grow our ocean carbon sequestration business opportunity.
Potential other applications
ONC is a top 60 competitor in the Elon Musk carbon removal Xprize competition. We are working on a highly scalable ocean carbon solution that links with industry players in Green hydrogen, underwater AUV’s, shipping, fisheries and offshore platforms and structures. As we plan to scale this business we are also utilising mapping tools such as GIS and satellite data to plan site operations on a global scale.
