Yield and quality assessment of dual purpose wheat for the export hay industry

Awnless wheat is a market preferred option for wheaten hay in the export market and is a potential complementary product to oats for hay production. This project provides growers, processors and exporters with hay and yield quality data of dual purpose, awnless wheat varieties, as well as the potential for hay production of awnless dual purpose barley varieties. A particular emphasis is placed on maintaining grain quality while supporting the diversification of hay production beyond oats.
