Technology review for fruit traceability at every stage of the Apple and Pear fruit production and supply chain
This investment is exploring available technologies that could improve traceability in the apple and pear supply chain. This research will inform the development of traceability solutions for the industry, with expected benefits including reducing supply chain costs and improving market access through enhanced biosecurity and food safety processes. There may also be marketing benefits through the ability to prove place of origin and provenance. A detailed review of existing and upcoming traceability technologies across different industries will be conducted, including consideration of the unique challenges and opportunities of implementation in the apple and pear sector. The project team will also conduct a series of workshops, seminars and online training for growers and supply chain participants.
