Sensors for reduce reproductive wastage
This investment will utilise on-animal sensors, such as AWI Smart Tags, to monitor and evaluate reproductive events and performance. A machine learning approach will utilise accelerometer, proximity & GNSS data to identify mating events, conception date and sire identity. The acquired knowledge will support management options for ewes including segregation based on foetal age, diagnosis of ovulation and time for artificial insemination to maximise conception, and the potential to utilise AI without the need for hormone treatment.
