Seaweed Policy Review

Australian Seaweed Institute recently completed the Australian Seaweed Industry Blueprint Implementation project, funded by AgriFutures, which included a workstream to conduct a review of Seaweed Policy and Ocean lease availability in 4 key states. The final document included reviews for 5 States: QLD, TAS, SA, NSW & WA. To publish a complete view of Seaweed Aquaculture policy around Australia the final two States - VIC & NT will be reviewed. WA is reviewing their policy and some changes are likely to be implemented and so the policy review needs to reflect this new information.

For all states, the policy review information and key findings will be re-validated with each State aquaculture manager to ensure the Policy review is accurate and up to date, including obtaining GIS maps from State Government which help to illustrate the available ocean lease areas.
