Review and compare Australian animal welfare systems throughout the supply chain to major trading partners (whole of life animal welfare)

This project will provide a tool for industry and individual processors to defend Australian meat animal welfare practices on a whole of value chain basis.

Australian requirements (regulatory and industry best practice) will be consolidated and compared/contrasted with those of key global customers, key Australian retailers and key trading partners including Europe and North America.

This comprehensive analysis will allow industry to defend its practices when challenged that systems are inadequate. It can also be used to meet growing consumer expectations that welfare is addressed for the “whole of life”.
